Jiro Dreams of Sushi tells the story of 85-year-old Jiro Ono, the fastidious proprietor of Sukiyabashi Jiro who’s unanimously regarded as the world’s greatest sushi chef.
A 10-seat, sushi only restaurant located next to a Tokyo subway platform, Sukiyabashi Jiro has earned an incredible three Michelin stars and has a wait list of up to a year of patrons willing to shell out around $400 dollars to savour Jiro’s creations.
As well as documentating Jiro’s unwavering perfectionism and long-held traditions, the David Gelb directed film explores his relationship with his heir apparent, 51-year-old son Yoshikazu.
