Our friend, model turned actress Brooklyn Decker is currently starring in What to Expect When You’re Expecting. The North Carolina native, who is married to tennis star Andy Roddick, chats to us about her latest movie, her style and her plans for the summer…
Can you tell us a little about your character in What to Expect When You’re Expecting?
I get to play that girl that we love to hate. Everything is seemingly perfect for her. She goes through life and pregnancy with ease and it was just so much fun playing someone as shameless and uninhibited as Skyler.
Do you have any funny anecdotes from the shoot?
There’s a lot of improv filming a comedy and watching Elizabeth Banks and Rebel Wilson do this completely cracked me up. During a scene, Rebel, in character as Janice, went on a tangent about getting herpes during pregnancy and it was so out of left field that you could see all the crew just shaking with laughter. Needless to say, that made it into the film.
You have starred in movies with big name stars, including Jennifer Aniston and Cameron Diaz. Is there anyone you would love work with?
This list is so long; I love Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Charlize Theron, Rebel Wilson, Jonah Hill, Sharon Stone, Robin Wright, Jeremy Renner… I could go on and on.
Is there any film you would have liked to have starred in?
I would have loved Robin Wright’s ‘Jenny’ in Forrest Gump or any role in Bridesmaids - I saw it four times in the theater.
How would you describe your style?
Boy meets girl. It’s more casual than dressy and always a bit athletic.
Do you work out much to stay in shape?
I’m very outdoorsy; I’m always running or hiking outside. I love kayaking. I live on a lake so that makes it easier for me. I haven’t done it in a long time but I love boxing – anything that really gets you moving.
What are you looking forward to this summer?
I will be going to the Olympics in London so that will definitely be the highlight of my summer. I’m already stocking up on my red, white and blue gear!
Finally, what would people be surprised to know about you?
I thoroughly enjoy singing and dancing, and do it often, but I’ve never been any good at it. I am also very argumentative and one of my greatest pleasures is getting into a good, heated debate with someone.
