- Carine Roitfield. “I love how open Carine is. It was before the street photographers scene was wild. With this camera and the exposure time it’s not easy to grasp a happy image that doesn’t seem posed and I think we managed to do that. Merci Carine!”
- Inez and Vinoodh. “I approached them at Rodarte and was so impressed. It was a real ‘photographer meets photographer’ moment in the best possible way and they were generous enough to make it an interesting image.”
- Kate Moss. “The one and only time I saw Kate backstage was at a Vivienne Westwood show in London. Guido Palau motivated Kate to pose for me, which was really nice of him. She was amazing. The first spread of these portraits appeared in Interview Magazine.”
- Bardo Fabiani. “Bardo is a backstage photographers legend as he and Roxanne Lowit and he were the first ones to shoot backstage. I took his portrait outside YSL at Le Grande Palais. It’s special as the exposure time was 1 second – the longest of any image in the book.”
- Suzy Menkes. “The first time I approached Suzy, she was deep in thought and not too happy to be disturbed. But this time around my timing was better and here we are. She was charming. Lovely picture.”
- Claudia Schiffer. “I took this image at 12.30am in the morning at a Fendi party in Paris and was highly impressed. She was spot on, absolutely focused and ready to go. Not necessarily what you’d expect from someone enjoying a fun party, but she’s a pro!”
