Art aficionados and ardent partygoers alike will be flocking to the Art Basel Miami Beach (Dec. 1st - 4th), the international art extravaganza, which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary. Over 2,000 artists will be showcasing their work at the four-day event, which is also renowned for having its fair share of glamorous celebrity-packed parties.
One of the Austrian artist’s most talked about works, which is making its US debut, is called Drinking Sculptures. Viewers of legal age can consume the alcohol which is on display in the reconstructed pieces of vintage furniture.
The Art Video section, which this year boasts 40 entrants, will be presented at the SoundScape Park for the first time. Ryan McGinley’s 2010 short film, Entrance Romance (it felt like a kiss), starring rag & bone DIY Project alum Carolyn Murphy, will be shown at Frank Gehry’s New World Center.
On the eve of the festival, the InterContinental Hotel is launching Andy Warhol – The Model Boy. The photo installation, which runs through March, features never-before-seen photos of the pop culture icon taken in October 1985.
