Bucharest, Romania native Andreea Diaconu was discovered while practicing diving at a local swimming pool. Though modeling scouts had previously approached the then fifteen-year-old athlete, Diaconu finally relented, but only as a means to save for karate camp; she later became a karate champion.

Upon graduating high school—and studying Communications at the University of Bucharest—the mezzo soprano-turned-model sat for David Sims for two Vogue Paris features and for Mario Sorrenti for the magazine’s seductive (and sandy) summer cover. Credits include the covers of WSJ., Document Journal, The Last Magazine, Self Service and three additional international editions of Vogue.
